The All-Star Game is in the rearview, leaving us with the second half of the 2022 MLB season. The break in the action gives us time to take a step back, examine the entire field, and find bets that speak to you.

Before we look at the current World Series odds, it’s best to start with the National League and American League odds.

Favorites to win the American League

Odds courtesy of DraftKings.

  1. New York Yankees (+175)
  2. Houston Astros (+210)
  3. Toronto Blue Jays (+650)
  4. Chicago White Sox (+1100)
  5. Tampa Bay Rays (+1200)

Despite an even 46-46 record and outside the playoffs if the season ended today, Chicago owns the fourth-highest odds to win the AL.

The betting market hasn’t yet bought into the Seattle Mariners (+2000), despite winning 14 straight games heading into the break.

The Yankees have the best record in the American League, ahead of Houston by 4.5 games. New York has been rumored to be one of the potential landing spots for Juan Soto, so any movement there would certainly impact the futures market.

Favorites to win the National League

Odds courtesy of DraftKings.

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers (+170)
  2. New York Mets (+320)
  3. Atlanta Braves (+425)
  4. Milwaukee Brewers (+800)
  5. San Diego Padres (+1000)

The five teams with the highest odds to win the NL reflect the standings, with each of the above five set for the playoffs if the season were to end today.

Los Angeles is 3.5 games ahead of New York, winners of nine of their past ten games in advance of the ASG. If the Mets can get a healthy Jacob deGrom back, that should offer a boost to their long-term outlook. The Mets are another team rumored to be in the Soto mix, but one has to wonder if Washington would trade their star in the division.

World Series Betting Favorites (as of July 20)

Odds courtesy of DraftKings.

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers (+380)
  2. New York Yankees (+400)
  3. Houston Astros (+500)
  4. New York Mets (+700)
  5. Atlanta Braves (+800)
  6. Toronto Blue Jays (+1500)
  7. Milwaukee Brewers (+1700)
  8. San Diego Padres (+2200)
  9. Tampa Bay Rays (+2800)
  10. Chicago White Sox (+3000)

Last season’s World Series participants, Houston and Atlanta, both find themselves near the top of the board to make it back. The Braves were our 2021 winners and have picked up their winning pace of late.

The Dodgers took home the World Series win in 2020 against the Tampa Bay Rays, and after losing in the NLCS last season, many believe they offer the best chance to win in 2022.

We are secretly hoping for the intrigue that a Subway Series would bring between the Yankees and Mets. Both teams haven’t been in the playoffs in the same year since 2015, a streak that seems sure to break this fall.

Enjoy the second half of baseball, and get your futures in today as we enjoy the pennant race to come.
