When Tayshia Clark and Zac Clark got engaged on The Bachelorette, viewers assumed that the franchise’s long slump had finally come to an end.

It’s been a long time since ABC’s OG dating shows yielded a successful marriage, and fans were certain that Tayshia and Zac were in it for the long haul.

But time makes fools of us all, and Clark and Adams went their separate ways in November of last year.

Fans were disappointed, of course, but Tayshia seems to be flourishing.

She stepped in as host of The Bachelorette after Chris Harrison got fired, and she’s still a popular presence on Instagram, with nearly 2 million followers.

Of course, you can’t earn that many fans without attracting quite a few haters.

And Tayshia fan afoul of one particularly nasty troll this week.

The trouble began when Adams posted the photo above.

“Just out here lookin’ for Kim and Pete … But also, that Newport sun hits different,” she captioned the post.

Seems pretty harmless, right?

Well, it is!

But for some reason, a random commenter took offense to Tayshia’s beach snap.

“I think you need to get over yourself. Remember when you dated @zwclark and didn’t constantly post selfies and boobs and bikinis of yourself?” this person commented.

“Yeah get back to that honey @tayshia because nobody cares at how fancy you think you are. You’re still a girl from a reality show with a guy who cheated on you ….”

Perhaps it was the allegation that he cheated on her.

Or maybe he just doesn’t like to see someone he cares about getting bullied online.

Whatever the case, Zac himself replied to the hater so that Tayshia didn’t have to.

“Enough is enough. One of the problems with social media is it gives people like you a voice and unwarranted power. The truth is, we see this s—t, I see this s—t,” Clark wrote.

“It is hard to avoid and it is just not nice, especially when you have no idea what you are talking about/you just make s—t up,” he continued.

“I struggle to see why you would be mean for no reason, being kind is so much easier, I promise.”

From there, Zac turned his attention to Tayshia.

And his remarks were a refreshing change of pace compared to the stuff guys usually say to their exes on Instagram!

“So @tayshia f—k the noise and keep doing your thing. Wear the clothes you want to wear, take the videos you want to take and keep shining,” Clark wrote.

“I know you and I know you to be a really good person.”

We may never know exactly why Zac and Tayshia decided to call off their engagement.

But it’s clear that their affection for one another has survived the breakup.

Hey, if the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise can’t create successful marriages anymore at least it can lead to some healthy platonic friendships!

It might not be the kind of relationship that Zac and Tayshia had in mind, but it’s better than nothing!
