The New York Yankees entered July with both the best overall record in all of MLB (56-21) and a popular candidate to win Most Valuable Player honors in slugger Aaron Judge.

They’re now perceived as the team most likely to be the last standing this fall.

Per David Purdum of ESPN, sportsbooks throughout the country now have the Yankees listed as favorites to win the 2022 World Series over the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to Purdum and ESPN Stats & Information, this is the first time since July 24, 2020 that the Dodgers haven’t been championship favorites during regular-season play.

Caesars Sportsbook has the Bronx Bombers at +400 to win it all, while the Dodgers are listed at +450.

“The Yankees becoming the new favorite was a combination of two things … performance and money,” Caesars Sportsbook lead baseball trader Eric Biggio explained in a release shared by ESPN. “After every big win, it seems like it’s all Yankees futures money on the bet ticker. And how can you blame them? They’ve definitely got it going.”

As noted by ESPN stats, the previously mentioned Judge leads all of MLB with 29 home runs, and he’s fourth with 59 RBI and a .988 OPS. It was announced on Thursday that Judge and Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. earned automatic starting spots in the upcoming All-Star Game as leading opening-round vote-getters.
