Carlson immediately ripped into the largely Democrat-led hearings, which got primetime coverage on every major network but Fox.

‘If at any time in your life you’ve ever made fun of totalitarian regimes that broadcast lies into the homes of the population that they can’t turn off, take a look at that. That’s happening right now,’ he said.

He then defended his network being the lone one to stay away from much of the proceedings.

‘This is the only hour on an American news channel that won’t be covering their propaganda live,’ Carlson opened his show saying. ‘They are lying and we are not going to help them do it.’

ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN were among several major networks to cover the hearings on the Capitol riot on January 6, 2020.

Fox News shook off criticism this week after announcing that only sister station Fox Business Network and its streaming platforms would cover the hearings in primetime.

Carlson had guests who have often been skeptical of the investigation into what happened that day, including former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and journalist Michael Tracey.

He also cited what he felt were more important issues that the country could be focused on, including rising gas prices, increased drug overdoses and his belief that the country was closer to nuclear war.

‘The whole thing is insulting, in fact it’s deranged and we’re not playing along,’ Carlson declared.

Carlson stated the point of Thursday night’s show was that he would ‘tell you the truth’ that what happened was ‘not an insurrection.’

He also criticized the shooting of Ashli Babbitt by Capitol Hill police, saying the cops never explained why they killed her.

What followed was claims refuting the Democrats and investigators contention that police officers were killed on January 6, calling that a lie, citing Officer Brian Sicknick, who died from a stroke.

He ended his opening monologue by playing into the theory that the protesters were encouraged to riot and that no one who did so has been arrested.
