As has been mentioned on a number of occasions of late, The Bachelorette is about to make history this summer by casting TWO leads in the main role, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia.
But an important question has suddenly surfaced, based on the reporting of someone familiar with the franchise:
Will the show make history of the wrong kind?
And will it ever recover if so?
Former Bachelor Nick Viall hinted as much when he delved into things he had about production during a recent episode of his Viall Files podcast.
“I’ve heard it’s going to be very different. And it’s going to have a [Bachelor in Paradise] feel to it,” the 41-year-old host explained.
“It is on a cruise ship — part of it.
“I asked people because it sounds like the producers think it’s gonna be really interesting, but very different.”
On a cruise ship?!? That sure is different.
Viall went on to confirm that Gabby and Rachel won’t be pitted against each other. This isn’t meant to be a competition between the women.
But…
“If it doesn’t work out, like if, let’s say Gabby was like, feeling it with ‘Frank.’ Frank could be like, ‘Rachel, sup?’” Viall said on air, detailing how a conflict could arise.
“There’s a little bit of like, options, right? And the thing about Paradise, what makes it different is people have options.”
Gabby and Rachel were both contestants on Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor.
They both slept with him.
And then they were both rejected by Clayton in favor of Susie Evans as soon as Echard was told he still had a shot with his eventual winner.
On ABC’s After the Final Rose special, both ladies laid into Clayton for the way he treated them.

Based on Viall’s understanding, however, all will not be smooth sailing on Season 19.
“They said it was hell to film because they decided to have two Bachelorettes, like, last second. So the scheduling was for one Bachelorette. They had to jam it all in,” Viall said on his podcast.
“And then I asked, I’m like, ‘What if it goes really well, like, this is a hit? …
“The people I talk to, they hope they never do it again. Just because of the logistics. I think, a cruise ship probably was the challenge.”
With producers having recently introduced the latest crop of Bachelorette suitors, Viall outlined how the whole dating process will go.
“My understanding is early on, they’re very much going to be dividing up the men, like, each will basically [have] their respective season,” Nick teased.
“It would be like if two friends go to a bar and after the first night, they just decide — or go to a party and be like, ‘Who are you into?’ And they just kind of just decide.
“I think they really are going out of their way to not pit two women against one another.”

“I am so happy for her. I truly am!” Rachel said in March of her partner on this journey.
“It’s crazy. This is insane and I’m excited to do this journey with you. We did it once together. We’ve been through the most crazy experience together.
