Norman Regional Health System (Norman, Okla.) is planning a $300 million, five-part expansion project, according to the website journalrecord.com.
As part of the project, the system’s HealthPlex hospital in Norman will add 650,000 square feet for a larger emergency department, surgical suites, intensive care unit, new ambulatory pavilion, and cancer center. Slated to open in 2023, the addition will increase the hospital’s bed count to 307 beds.
Additionally, most of Norman Regional Hospital will be demolished to make way for a health village with that will include urgent care, preventive care, health education, independent senior living, retail, and a 48-bed behavioral health center. The health village is slated to open in 2026, and the behavioral health center is expected to open in 2024.
The system already completed a $22.8 million freestanding emergency department.
