Niece Waidhofer, a model and long-time social media influencer, passed away this week in Houston, Texas.

She was 31 years old.

Family members of Waidhofer confirmed this tragic news to TMZ very early on Thursday morning, telling the outlet that their loved one committed suicide.

Just so very, very sad.

“Sadly, Niece took her own life after a long battle with mental health issues,” these relatives said in a statement to the celebrity gossip site, adding:

“She was very open with her followers about her struggles, even wanting to help followers who also suffered.”

According to TMZ, a non-profit organization called Peace from Niece will be established in the late model’s honor, with the charity aiming too benefit mental health awareness while providing grants for mental illness research.

In addition to her career as a model, Waidhofer had garnered more than 4 million followers on Instagram prior to her death.

Following news of her passing, followers began paying tribute to the late model.

“While it is so very painful to say goodbye,” her family went on in its message.

“We take comfort knowing she is reunited with her father, her three grandparents, her Uncle Rusty, and her beloved Puff; and that she is now free to be herself and, finally, at peace.”

As for the circumstances surrounding the star’s death?

Law enforcement sources have told TMZ that they received a call from a concerned family member last month to check on Niece at her Houston-area residence … and that’s when her body was discovered.

Around that same time, Waidhofer cleaned out her Instagram account, leaving only three photos across the platform.

“She was one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram,” one user wrote on Twitter, adding:

“Mental health is super important. More than you can possibly fathom.”

The late’s models relatives also said the following in their statement:

“Niece was more than her struggles.

“She was beautiful and kind, sensitive and funny, creative and talented, generous and compassionate, thoughtful and challenging.”

May Niece Waidhofer rest in peace.
