NFL Week 6 fantasy: Surprises, disappointments & waiver adds

Mariota put on a clinic of how to have a big scoring day without throwing the ball often (are you watching, Justin Fields?). He completed 13-of-14 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, adding 50 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

The Colts’ offense has usually been conservative, but they switched the script on Sunday against the Jaguars. Ryan threw the ball 58 times, finishing with 389 yards and three touchdowns.

Smith-Schuster hasn’t been the big producer his drafters hoped for until Sunday. The former Steeler had five catches for 113 yards and one touchdown as the Chiefs’ leading receiver.

Aaron Rodgers lost Randall Cobb to injury, but Tonyan was able to step up. He was busy on Sunday with 10 catches for 90 yards and could become more fantasy relevant going forward with Cobb sidelined.

Is it time for Mac Jones to worry? Zappe had his second consecutive impressive game as the Patriots’ starter, completing 24-of-34 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns. New England’s offense has finally hit its stride with him under center, but the Browns’ defense certainly helped.

Benjamin stepped up as Arizona’s starting running back with James Conner sidelined, but he didn’t do much against the Seattle defense. He had 15 rushes for 37 yards, as well as three catches for 28 yards. Benjamin is likely to get another opportunity on a short week against the Saints on Thursday Night Football.

The Bucs suffered a shocking defeat at Pittsburgh, as Brady was held in check against a banged-up Steelers defense. He completed 25-of-40 passes for 243 yards and one touchdown, a far cry from what was expected.

Jones has been a disappointment, along with the rest of the Packers’ offense, and that continued vs. the Jets on Sunday. He had nine carries for 19 yards, along with three catches for 25 yards receiving. Green Bay’s offense was held in check by the Jets’ defense, accumulating only 4.0 yards per play.

Coming off a spectacular game, Lockett was slowed by the Cardinals’ defense on Sunday. He had only two catches for 17 yards and was targeted only five times.

Playing from behind, Wilson couldn’t get anything going on the ground from San Francisco against the Falcons. He had only seven carries for 25 yards in a fruitless game and could be at risk for a similar fate next week vs. Kansas City.

Anderson was likely dropped in most leagues due to the lackluster Panthers offense, but he gets a jolt after getting traded west to Arizona. While the Cardinals have DeAndre Hopkins returning from suspension, there are opportunities to be had in the offense following Marquise Brown’s foot injury. Anderson could be a viable deep threat within a few weeks.

Claypool has been an early bust due in part to the addition of rookie George Pickens, but he had his coming-out party on Sunday. He made critical catches in Pittsburgh’s shocking win over Tampa Bay, finishing with seven receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. While Claypool remains a risky play, fantasy managers could buy the momentum if trying to fill a hole during a bye week.

J.K. Dobbins had what seemed like a setback with his knee on Sunday, but the speedy Drake was able to step up in a big way. He had 10 carries for 119 yards and one touchdown. Even with Gus Edwards soon to return, Drake has earned more playing time in the short term.

Quarterback can be slim pickings in some deeper leagues, so Heinicke’s return to the starter role in Washington is notable. Carson Wentz will miss at least a month due to a hand injury, and Heinicke has a very capable arsenal of weapons as a fantasy stash.

Robinson saw limited snaps in his return from injury, but he made the most of them, tallying three catches for 37 yards and one touchdown. Without much significant competition, Robinson will likely see his playing time and targets increase.
