Murder probe after woman ‘assault and killed’ in a house

Officers were called to reports of the assault of a 35-year-old woman at a property in Wortley, Leeds, at 11.59pm on Monday, June 6. They found her at the address with serious injuries and, although she was rushed to hospital, she has since died.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, Leeds Live reports.

Detectives from the force’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are leading the investigation into the incident.

It is being treated as domestic-related.

An investigation scene remains in place on the residential street in the inner city area in the west of Leeds.

Forensic examination and specialist searches have been carried out in the area.

The full West Yorkshire Police statement reads: “A man has been arrested over the murder of a woman in Leeds.

“At 23:59pm last night, police were called to a report of a woman having been assaulted at an address in Bangor Grove, Lower Wortley.

“Officers attended and found a 35-year-old woman with serious injuries. She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.

“A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

“Detectives from West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are leading the investigation into the incident, which is being treated as domestic related.

“Scenes remain in place around Bangor Grove to undergo forensic examination and specialist searches.
