We are now on Season 8 of Southern Charm, and many cast members have come and gone.
Landon Clements starred on the series from 2015 until 2017, when she walked away.
In a new interview, Landon admits that she left the show, in part, because of one person: Kathryn Dennis.
She is not the only one who found that costarring with Kathryn just wasn’t worth it.
Landon Clements spoke to Us Weekly about her years filming Southern Charm.
She acknowledged that many former castmembers “1,000 percent” departed because of Kathryn’s drama.
“No doubt about it,” Landon commented. “I certainly did.”
From Landon’s point of view, Kathryn makes everything about her.
“It’s just, again, this whole, you know, the single mother thing,” she opined.
“She just manipulates everything into whatever it is that she needs in that moment,” Landon expressed.
“Just the way she treats people, it’s not how I treat people,” Landon noted.
Describing the general vibe, she added: “It was too much negativity.”
As she suggested, Landon is not the only person to experience this.
Cameran Eubanks accused Kathryn Dennis of spreading a nasty, destructive rumor about her husband.
This impacted, Cameran, husband Jason Wimberly, and an innocent young woman.
Cameran quickly cleared the young woman’s name in the public, but it was an unpleasant incident.
Cameran left the show, though she claimed that she had already decided to leave.
“it’s deplorable and I don’t, you know, support that or encourage that,” Landon said.
“I don’t like hiding behind the fact that, ‘Well, I’m a mother,’” she added.
“So what?” Landon asked. “That means you should be an extra good person.”
Landon reasoned that Kathryn should “go out of your way to do things” better, since she’s a mom.
Kathryn and Landon have not crossed paths in years, but Landon feels that she will “forever in a way be entangled” with her.
While Landon and Kathryn were castmates, the two often clashed.
There was one major source of contention: disgraced former Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel.
“I hate that [Kathryn] tried to manipulate that Thomas and I were having an affair,” Landon expressed.
“To this day, Thomas and I have never had any sort of relationship besides a friendship,” she added.
“That also just destroyed our friendship,” Landon revealed.
“I didn’t feel comfortable even, like, being in his presence,” Landon shared.
Of course, many women very reasonably feel that way.
Landon, however, thinks of the criminal as “sort of like a wayward cousin.”
Meanwhile, Landon says that she chose to “put my energy on myself and building up my career.”
“And,” she continued, “making things happen for me.”
Landon added: “and kind of just left all of that behind.”
“I pray Kathryn finds love in her heart for herself,” Landon shaded.
Landon admitted that she misses hanging out with some of her friends.
But wading into all of that Kathryn Dennis drama … some things are too much.
Clearly, she still maintains ties with some of the cast, but staying off-camera means steering clear of Kathryn.
