This is not a drill, folks.
Nor is it any kind of prank.
There is, however, a pretty big catch.
On Wednesday, a representative confirmed that Khloe Kardashian is expecting with her second child — and the baby’s father will be the same man who conceived her first child: Tristan Thompson.
The major catch, as cited above?
Khloe and Tristan are using a surrogate.
“We can confirm True will have a sibling who was conceived in November,” this rep told various celebrity gossip outlets this afternoon, adding:
“Khloe is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing. We’d like to ask for kindness and privacy so that Khloe can focus on her family.”
Wow, huh?
Khloe and Tristan are parents to a four-year old daughter named True.
The basketball player cheated on the reality star toward the very end of her pregnancy, and then did so again even after Khloe forgave Tristan and the pair tried to date again.
“Khloe and Tristan are not back together and have not spoken since December outside of co-parenting matters,” an insider tells People Magazine.
Complicating matters even further for these two is the fact that Thompson impregnated a woman named Maralee Nichols in March 2021.
He initially denied the paternity and didn’t reveal the truth to the public (or to Khloe) until late last year.
“The baby was conceived via surrogate before it was revealed to Khloe and the public that Tristan was having a baby with someone else in December,” the same People source said on Wednesday.
The Hulu personality, however, previously spoke about her IVF plans on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians before the series ended awhile back.
I”’m gonna need you,” the reality star told Thompson in February 2021.
“We have to line it up with your schedule so I can make embryos with my frozen eggs. … I think I’m ready to do the whole pregnancy thing again.
“This process might take time. I have no idea. I want to be prepared.”
To Khloe’s credit, she’s scarcely trash-talked her daughter’s father on social media or any other public platforms — despite all the way heinous ways he has treated her over the years.
“I might get some embryos and get a sibling,” she also told Tristan during a 2020 episode.
“I might need to borrow some sperm or get some from you, but we’ll figure that out later.”
Khloe’s half-sister, Kim Kardashian, used a surrogate to welcome her second pair of kids into the world with Kanye West, although she did so for health reasons.
As far as we can comprehend, Khloe is doing so because she wanted a second child; she wanted this child to have all the same genes as the first child; and she did NOT want to sleep with Thompson again.
However, Khloe also opened up about her struggles with conceiving in March 2021.
During the March 2021 premiere episode of KUWTK’s final season, Khloe told viewers that doctors informed her she would have a “high-risk” pregnancy if she chose to carry her own second kid.
She told her sister Kim Kardashian that she was considering surrogacy at the time.
“I’m not gonna get into specifics on-camera,” she said on air.
“But they said it’s like an 80-something percent chance that I will miscarry. I almost miscarried with True at the beginning. But I didn’t know that was like a lingering thing.”
“I honestly had the best experience with surrogacy,” said Kim in response.
“And I think that you know what giving birth feels like – I always say, if you can do it, it’s such an amazing experience. But you’ll see, the love that you’ll have for your kids is exactly the same.
“There’s no difference, except that there was someone else that was the carrier.”
As for Khloe’s reaction when she learned that Thompson has gotten another woman pregnant last year?
The scandal was explored during season 1 of The Kardashians, with Khloe telling the cameras she felt humiliated by Thompson’s transgressions.
“I am replaying every event, every grand gesture, every trip [and] every date. All of that was a lie,” Kardashian confessed during a June episode.
“How were you able to not say something? I feel just not really in my own body. … Everything is an act of betrayal. Everything is a lie.
“Everything is manipulation [and] it is deceit. Did Tristan have every opportunity to tell me? Yes. Was Tristan going to tell me if there wasn’t a baby involved? Absolutely not.
“And that shows a lot about his character. The entire thing is despicable.”
