Just Stop Oil activists came out on the 20th day of protests in west London where they sprayed orange paint on the front of Harrods. Around 20 protesters gathered outside the luxury department store in Knightsbridge at 9 am to smear the mall with paint. Just Stop Oil’s latest move has drawn the ire of Twitter users who said the protestors should be jailed for their actions.

Kevin Edger said: “Surely this man will be arrested and locked up? He should be made to pay for the damage as well. This is totally unacceptable. Just Stop Oil protesters are criminals. They should all be made to feel the full force of the law.”

Gareth Smith tweeted: “When I fill up at the petrol station later I will do it with a smile knowing that every litre that I put it is hacking these protesters off and more oil will need to be drilled.”

While Crossers said: “You are nothing but criminals. Your acts of vandalism are having the opposite effect to what you want.”

Neil Ferguson Calculator said: “Note to all Just Stop Oil activists: Getting yourself arrested and posting the video online is not going to get you laid. Try getting a job and learning some social skills instead.”

Videos shared by Just Stop Oil show two climate activists spraying paint on the windows of Harrods before seemingly being arrested. More than a dozen climate members were held in custody following the incident.

A Just Stop Oil spokesperson said: “Our government is criminally incompetent and morally bankrupt. They are actively seeking to accelerate fossil fuel production, which will kill millions of people, while failing to address the worst cost of living crisis this country has ever seen.

“Vulnerable people will be freezing to death in their homes this winter while the government refuses to tax the rich and the big energy companies that are profiting from our misery.”

Other scenes were captured in the capital where protestors sat down in the middle of the road in a bid to disrupt traffic. An enraged motorist dressed in a suit hit out at the sitting activists as he tried to remove drag one of the activists off the road.
