It’s been almost six months since Bob Saget passed away unexpectedly in an Orlando hotel room.

But for the beloved comic’s friends and family, the loss is likely as painful as ever.

Of course, grief transforms and takes on different shapes as time passes.

So while Saget’s wife and daughters will obviously never forget him, they may soon reach a point at which their memories of the TV icon become a source of joy rather than sorrow.

Saget, Bob

Sunday marked the Saget family’s first Father’s Day without Bob.

And the comic’s middle daughter Lara was moved to share some personal insights on social media.

“My dad wasn’t just my dad, he was my best friend,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a throwback photo of herself with her father.

“He wore his heart. He didn’t hide it; he wasn’t afraid of love. My dad simply wanted to share laughter and love with this world.”

Lara went on to reveal that she’s drawn inspiration from her father’s approach to life and relationships.

“I have noticed how scary it can be to love that big, to open so fully. It can be easier to be angry, fearful, negative,” she wrote.

“Maybe because love has an infinite quality, it is boundless,” Lara continued.

“My dad taught me that it doesn’t matter what life throws, how hard, how painful, how seemingly impossible. It doesn’t stop that love. He chose love, always.”

Lara added that she’s committing herself “to doing the same,” and she encouraged to her followers to remember the most important lesson that she learned from her father:

“The love is right here.”

“And it’s my responsibility to give it to myself and to share by living in the love,” Lara concluded.

“I love you infinitely, dad. Happy Father’s Day.”

Celebrities Who Died In 2022: In Memoriam

The previous weekend, Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, attended the Fourth Annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards to accept an award on her late husband’s behalf.

“He was one of the pioneers in the reality TV world,” Rizzo told People magazine in a red carpet interview.

“It’s just so special to be here to honor him, but also still so weird and surreal at the fact that he’s not here,” she added.

“This is the first red carpet I’ve done without him. It’s very strange. I feel like he’s waiting in the wings and he’ll be like, ‘Honey, I’ll be there in a few minutes.’

“It still doesn’t feel right, but all we can do is our best and be here to celebrate him and his legacy. That’s all I want to do.”

Obviously, Saget’s absence will continue to be a source of tremendous pain for his loved ones.

But if they haven’t already, we hope they’ll soon reach a point at which the mention of his name or the memory of their time together will illicit more smiles than tears.

Our thoughts go out to Bob’s family and friends during this enormously difficult time.

We hope they can find some solace in the fact that their grief is shared by so very many.
