As you very likely know by now, The Bachelorette is set to make history.

Back in March, producers confirmed that BOTH Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia will serve as the leads on Season 19, marking the first time in television history that TWO women will simultaneously search for their forever matches in front of a captivated audience.

What could possible go wrong, right?

At least one thing very obvious, as it turns out.

On Tuesday, just six days before Gabby and Rachel premiere as co-Bachelorettes, ABC released a trailer for upcoming episodes.

At one point, the footage features Rachel handing a rose to a suitor she wishes to keep around — or at least attempting to do so.

“I’m sorry, I’m here for Gabby,” the contestant says to a shocked Rachel.

Awkward, huh? And also sort of predictable.

It remains mostly unclear just how Season 19 will actually tackle dueling women at the forefront of the show.

Sources have emphasized that Gabby and Rachel will NOT be pitted against each other… but might they have no real say in the matter?

As described above, what if a potential husband only has eyes for either Rachel or Gabby, while the woman in whom he’s not interested offers him a rose?

We can only hope such a situation doesn’t lead to any real tension between the ladies themselves.

“I have no doubt, we are going to meet our fiancés,” Rachel says as a montage of the show’s upcoming 19th season flashes across the screen in the aforementioned preview.

“We’re figuring out things as we go,” Gabby adds.

Both these stars were rudely rejected by Clayton Echard toward the end of his run as The Bachelor, and both seemed pretty darn excited to embark on a new romantic journey together.

“I am so happy for her. I truly am,” said Rachel this spring.

“This is insane and I’m excited to do this journey with you. We did it once together.

“I feel like we both have been through so much, so I’m ready for us both to get our happy ending.”

Based on The Bachelorette spoilers we’ve combed through so far, it looks like Gabby and Rachel will settle on four different men for their hometown dates.

It also looks like a great deal of the season will take place on a cruise ship — and that it may not be all smooth sailing for the leads and/or their suitors.

“They said it was hell to film because they decided to have two Bachelorettes, like, last second. So the scheduling was for one Bachelorette. They had to jam it all in,” Nick Viall said on a recent podcast.

A former Bachelor star himself, Viall is pretty well-sourced in this area.

Added Viall on this broadcast last month:

“The people I talk to, they hope they never do it again. Just because of the logistics. I think, a cruise ship probably was the challenge.”

As previously cited, Viall also said “I think they really are going out of their way to not pit two women against one another.”

Season 19 of The Bachelorette will premiere Monday, July 11 on ABC at 8/7c.
