As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Johnny Depp won his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard last month.

Depp was awarded $10.35 million in damages, and the jury somewhat confusingly granted Heard $2 million for her compensatory claim.

Obviously, that leaves the actress with a whopping $8.35 million debt to her ex.

But that sum might pale in comparison to what Heard stands to lose if the major studios determine that the verdict has made her unemployable.

Amber Heard Leaves Court

A petition to have Heard removed from Aquaman 2 has already received almost 5 million signatures.

The popularity of the change.org campaign has led to rumors that Heard will be edited out of the film, which wrapped filming earlier this year and is slated for release in March of 2023.

Now, Radar Online is reporting that the process of removing Heard from the film is already underway.

Amber Heard Takes the Stand

“Warner Bros. decided to recast Amber Heard‘s role after screen testing the movie. They are going to be doing reshoots with Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman,” a production source tells the outlet.

During the trial, Heard testified that her role in the film had already been reduced, seeming as a result of her legal woes.

“I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving any spoiler aways, two characters fighting with one another, and they basically took a bunch out of my role,” she told the court.

“They just removed a bunch out,” she added.

DC Films President Walter Hamada took the stand and countered that the studio had never intended to make Heard a co-lead in the second Aquaman film.

He also told the court that the actress’ personal life had no influence on the film’s script.

Amber Heard Testifies

Now, a rep for Heard has issued a statement in response to the claims that she’s been completely axed from Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom.

“The rumor mill continues as it has from day one — inaccurate, insensitive, and slightly insane,” the statement reads.

Obviously, no one will know for sure if Heard made the final cut until Aquaman 2 hits theaters next spring.

But even if her scenes remain intact, the current controversy doesn’t bode well for the future of Amber’s career.

From the start of the trial, she and Depp were likely aware that they were fighting for their professional lives.

Depp filed a $50 million suit against Heard, alleging that he had not been offered a role in a major studio project in several years as a result of Amber’s Washington Post essay, in which she identified herself as a survivor of domestic abuse.

Depp’s legal team insisted from the start that the suit was not about winning financial compensation from Heard, but was instead part of a campaign to restore his reputation.

Following his victory, there have been rumors that Depp will return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

The actor claimed in court that a planned sixth installment of the film had been shelved as a result of Heard’s allegations.

Only time will tell what the future holds in store for these two troubled stars.

But right now, it seems clear that Depp’s career is on the upswing.

While Heard’s fortunes are obviously headed in the opposite direction.
