In a recent interview, Maddie Ziegler spoke about trauma and Abby Lee Miller after years of Dance Moms.
Now a young adult, she is more aware than ever of how toxic that environment was for her.
Maddie is in therapy. She is also perfectly happy to never speak to Miller again.
Now, Miller herself is speaking out, blaming Maddie for doing the show and acting like she is a fellow victim.
Abby Lee Miller took to her YouTube channel that resembles a bizarre, fake talk show.
She gives a response to Maddie Ziegler’s Cosmopolitan interview, starting by congratulating her for her hard work.
From there, Miller is determined to pick apart all of Maddie’s lived experiences on Dance Moms.
“What I don’t understand [about] the pressure, the ‘toxic’ situation,” Miller complains.
She then asks: “If it was so toxic, why did you keep doing it?”
“I had to, I tried to quit many a time,” Miller continued, “and I was forced to come back to set because I signed a contract.”
“Newsflash: the kids in the original cast never had a contract,” Miller announced.
“The moms had a contract,” she said.
“But the kids, well,” Miller characterized, “they were just kind of there on a handshake.”
“I thought she wanted to be there,” Miller claimed.
“If she said, ‘I don’t want to go, I’m not going,’ kicking and screaming, stomping her feet,” she continued.
Miller then speculated: “I’m sure her mother wouldn’t have brought her.”
Abby Lee Miller continued: “or she would have come and talked to me about it.”
She claimed: “She never did that.”
Miller went so far as to claim that Maddie “was at at home” in her studio.
“That’s where everybody knew her name,” she gloated.
Miller then continued: “Now the whole world knows her name.”
In a possible attempt to guilt-trip Maddie, Miller called her “a kid that I loved.”
She insisted: “I was fighting for everything for these kids to be the best that they could be on television.”
As we all watched with horror, Miller took this “fight” seriously, bombarding these children with verbal abuse.
Miller went on to allege that she put her own “career on the line” to get Maddie to work with Sia.
“I know that what I did for Maddie, with Maddie, helped her succeed,” she then insisted.
In other words, Miller thinks that Maddie is ungrateful for the vicious environment that Miller created.
She also seems to blame Maddie, who was 8 years old when the show began, for being part of it.
Abby Lee Miller also spoke to TMZ, expressing her dismay that Maddie didn’t feel close to her.
“Spending hours, days, weeks and years together in a crazy reality TV show environment,” she claimed, “we became like family.”
Guess Stockholm Syndrome doesn’t work as reliably as it used to.
Obviously, Abby Lee Miller also brought up her personal trials in an apparent bid for sympathy.
“I don’t think she realizes what I went through in prison, what I went through in the hospital,” she then listed.
Miller concluded: “What chemo’s all about, what being in a wheelchair is like.”
