Two-time All-Star outfielder Joey Gallo is headed to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a trade that’ll send Double-A pitcher Clayton Beeter to the New York Yankees, according to Pat Ragazzo of FanNation.

The Yankees were reportedly searching for a way to part with Gallo and his $10.275 million salary after he struggled for most of his tenure with the team. This season, Gallo is batting .159 with 106 strikeouts in 233 at bats.

Last week, Gallo spoke to reporters and was resigned to the fact that his time with the Yankees was nearing its end.

“I didn’t live up to expectations,” Gallo said Thursday, via The Athletic. “Every time I see a Yankees hat, every time I see a Yankees jersey, it’s something I’m going to have to understand. I didn’t play well as a Yankee. I wish I had.”

Gallo, 28, began his career with the Texas Rangers and earned two All-Stars nods and two Gold Gloves before he was traded to the Yankees in 2021. While he batted .211 with the Rangers, Gallo’s .159 batting average in over 500 plate appearances is ahead of only a pair of pitchers in Yankees history.

Beeter was the Dodgers’ second-round pick in 2020 and has an 0-3 record in 16 starts with Double-A Tulsa this season with a 5.75 ERA.
