Woman is killed and four people are injured as driver plows into crowd of pedestrians in Brooklyn

One woman has died and four were injured after a car struck a group of pedestrians in New York City.

One of the victims passed away, another was in critical condition, two suffered serious injuries and another had minor injuries.

An NYPD spokesperson told DailyMail.com that the driver is not among the injured and is not in custody.  

FDNY said the vehicle hit the crowd just after 7pm at Macon Street and Ralph Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn. DailyMail.com has reached out to the FDNY for further information on the incident. 

The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Cops, firefighters and ambulances swooped on the scene and taped off the entrance to the road.

At least one of the victims was a child, according to the New York Daily News. 

The crash occurred in front of a deli. An employee of the store told newspaper:

‘There were a lot of people in the store scared and crying. saw a little boy, about 10 years old, in the street lying down. He didn’t look good.’  

It has been a bloody 48 hours on New York City’s streets already with two people having been killed and two other hospitalized in separate incidents. 

In one of those incidents, a man was charged with assault and DWI after allegedly hitting his wife with his car following an argument.
