Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson doesn’t think he’s earned the right to call himself the best in the game yet, but he’s confident that’ll change after the 2022 season.

“I’ll say after this year I’ll be the best receiver in the NFL,” Jefferson told Complex in an interview. “I definitely have to give it to Davante Adams as of now, him being so crazy and dynamic on the field. His route running is crazy, so I definitely have to give it to him right now, but I’m pretty sure after this year, it’s going to be me.

“I think I have to do it three years in a row for everybody to believe so. Some people don’t think that after two years you deserve to be at the top of the league. And then me, I feel like I’m going to surpass 1,600 yards too. So I think that I’ll become the best receiver after this year.”

Jefferson, 23, hasn’t been far from that mantle with two Pro Bowl nods in as many NFL seasons. He already has 3,016 career receiving yards with 17 touchdowns, and was second in the NFL in receiving yards last year with 1,616.

Earlier in the 2022 offseason, Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, ending his tenure with the Green Bay Packers after five consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl.

Calvin Johnson and Antonio Brown are the only two players in NFL history to record more than 1,600 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons.
