The United States Men’s National Team know they’ll open the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar against Wales on Monday, Nov. 21. It was confirmed on Tuesday who the Americans will meet for September warmup friendlies ahead of world football’s biggest party.

Per a U.S. Soccer release, Team USA will take on fellow World Cup finalists Japan and Saudi Arabia in September. The U.S. will first play against Japan on Sept. 23, and The Associated Press (h/t ESPN) notes that contest will occur at a European site that remains to be determined. Four days later, the Americans will face Saudi Arabia at the Estadio Nueva Condomina in Murcia, Spain.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to measure ourselves against fellow World Cup participants,” USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter said for the release. “Together with the two games in June against Morocco and Uruguay, we will have experienced a great diversity of styles and quality opponents to help us prepare for what lies ahead at the World Cup in November.”

The U.S. defeated Morocco 3-0 and were held to a goalless draw with Uruguay earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Wales interim manager Rob Page generated headlines when he said weeks ago that World Cup Group B games against the U.S. and Iran are “winnable” contests. After the Wales matchup, the U.S. will face England on Friday, Nov. 25 before they take on Iran on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
