Earlier today, we reported on the news that Travis Barker had been rushed to the hospital under mysterious circumstances.

At first, details were scarce, and social media was abuzz with conflicting rumors about the Blink-182 drummer’s condition.

Fans knew only that wife Kourtney Kardashian was by Barker’s side, and his daughter, Alabama, had asked fans to pray for her father.

Alabama even posted and deleted the photo below, in which she appears to be holding her father’s hand in the hospital.

Needless to say, that’s scary stuff, and her followers were quick to offer their sympathy and express concern.

Adding to the widespread fears was a message that Travis had written on his own Twitter account:

“God save me,” Barker tweeted.

Now that we know a little bit more about Barker’s condition, we can understand why he and his loved ones were so concerned.

According to a new report from TMZ, Travis has been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.

The bad news is, this sudden inflammation of the pancreas is one of the most painful conditions a patient can experience.

The good news is, if it’s caught early, as Travis’ appears to have been, it’s almost always treatable.

Sources close to Travis say the inflammation was caused by a recent colonoscopy.

Unfortunately, the drummer’s condition is not known at this time.

In what many are taking to be a good sign, however, Travis’ 18-year-old son, Landon, took the stage to perform with Machine Gun Kelly at a concert in New York City.

If there were reason to believe that Travis’ condition was less than stable, Landon probably would have rushed home to Los Angeles.

Common symptoms of pancreatitis include nausea, intense stomach pain and vomiting.

The condition is common among people who struggle with substance abuse issues, but Travis has been sober from hard drugs since he nearly lost his life in a plane crash in 2008.

Barker says he had been abusing prescription painkillers for years, but the near-fatal crash served as a “wake up call.”

“People are always like, ‘Did you go to rehab?’ ” Barker said in an interview with Men’s Health.

“And I [say], ‘No, I was in a plane crash.’ That was my rehab. Lose three of your friends and almost die? That was my wake-up call,” he added.

“If I wasn’t in a crash, I would have probably never quit.”

Barker says his drug abuse was so severe that he began to suffer from osteoporosis and a host of other health conditions.

Kourtney has yet to speak publicly about Barker’s condition, but a source close to the star confirmed that she’s in a state of high anxiety.
