Trail Blazers’ forward Trendon Watford was named the game’s MVP, posting 19 points, seven rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block.

Jabari Walker led the Trail Blazers in rebounds with 11, adding 14 points, three steals, and two assists in the victory. The Trail Blazers selected Walker in the second round (No. 59) of the 2022 NBA Draft out of Colorado.

Williams and Watford both saw time for the Trail Blazers during the regular season.

Williams played 24 games for the Trail Blazers last season, starting 16. He averaged 12.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.0 steals.

Watford made ten starts for Portland last season, averaging 7.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, playing 48 games.

Despite the loss, five Knicks players finished with double-figures on Sunday.

Guard Quentin Grimes scored 19 points, with three assists, three rebounds, and a steal, to lead the way for the Knicks.

Mile McBride scored 17 points, Jericho Sims finished with 13 points, and Feron Hunt and Micah Porter each had 10 points to round out the Knicks’ effort.

After a tight first quarter, Portland outscored the Knicks 29-16 in the second quarter to take a 41-30 lead into the halftime break.

The Trail Blazers built a 14-point in the fourth quarter, and the Knicks made a late run but couldn’t complete the comeback. Facing a 14-point deficit, the Knicks made a late comeback attempt in the fourth quarter but came up short.

“They made a run in I think the late third or the fourth,” Watford said after the game. “We stuck together and when we came back in, we turned it up and I’m just proud of all these guys man.

“It was big time, our chemistry came together since Day 1 and I’m just proud of all these guys.”
