Tottenham players collapse during preseason training in South Korea

Current Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte replaced the fired Nuno Espirito Santo in early November and ultimately guided the Premier League side to a fourth-place finish and a spot in this coming season’s UEFA Champions League competition.

Conte didn’t have a proper preseason with Tottenham last summer, and it appears he’s more than making up for it.

According to Josh Fordham of TalkSport and Alasdair Gold of Football.London, multiple Tottenham players collapsed on the pitch during a grueling two-hour training session in South Korea, where the club is preparing for the season and will play in some friendlies. Gold notes that striker and England captain Harry Kane needed “to be sick” following what were described as “42 pitch-long runs, with very few brief stops, to see who lasted the distance at the end of their third training session in just over 24 hours.”

Current Golden Boot holder Son Heung-min was also spotted down on the ground inside the stadium.

“It depends who you ask,” forward Troy Parrott told Gold when asked if Conte’s drills were particularly exhausting. “I’m quite a good runner naturally, but yeah it’s been tough. It’s been hard work but it’s all preparation.”

It remains to be seen if Tottenham will have enough depth and quality to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title next spring. If nothing else, though, it seems Conte’s players will certainly be fit when they kick the season off on Aug. 6.
