Nearing the midway point of June, the Cincinnati Reds hold the worst record in the National League at 21-39, 12.5 games out of first place in the NL Central. In some good news for the Reds, second baseman Jonathan India is reportedly ready to make his return from the 10-day injured list.

According to Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer, India will be activated ahead of the Reds’ matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 14.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since April 29 with a right hamstring strain. Expected to be out until June 17 at the earliest, India’s rehab progressed well enough for him to make a return to the big club earlier than scheduled.

India’s injury first crept up in early April, causing him to miss nine games.

Playing in only 11 games this season, India is batting .295/.311/.341 with three RBI in 45 plate appearances.

India, the fifth-overall selection in the 2018 draft by the Reds, made his MLB debut last season, earning rookie of the year honors. In 150 games, India batted .269/.376/.459 with 21 home runs and 69 RBI. He finished among the top ten in the NL in several categories, ranking sixth in on-base percentage and eighth in doubles (34), walks (71), and runs scored (98).
