It was learned this past spring that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will “host” the Seattle Seahawks in Munich, Germany, at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena on Nov. 13. The game could see Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady become the first NFL signal-caller to start a contest in four different countries.

Brady’s return from a short-lived winter retirement may have caused a surge in excitement regarding that matchup.

According to an ESPN piece, more than 770,000 people accessed the ticket site at the same time on Tuesday in an attempt to land seats for the league’s first regular-season game in Germany. Per Mike Gavin of NBC Sports Washington, tickets for the showdown have been listed at over $30,000 each — not including fees and taxes — on secondary sites.

“We are overwhelmed by the demand for tickets for our first ever regular-season game in Germany,” an NFL spokesperson explained. “More than 770,000 fans accessing our ticket shop at the same time is proof of the excitement we see in the market.

“Tom Brady and the Bucs facing the Seahawks in November will be the biggest sporting event in Germany in 2022. Our fans can’t wait for the NFL to finally touch down in Germany.”

Gavin notes that more than 2 million would-be buyers were in the ticket site’s queue at one point on Tuesday.
