Every big-time commitment counts, even at a school like Michigan. Those commitments count even more when you’re able to steal a solid recruit away from a rival, though, and that’s exactly what Jim Harbaugh and his staff were able to do with 4-star lineman Enow Etta from Colleyville, Texas.

Etta, a class of 2023 recruit, is ranked as the No. 8 defensive lineman as well as a Top 60 recruit nationally, according to 247Sports. He checks in at nearly 6-foot-5, 260-pounds as a rising senior in high school, and the Wolverines secured his commitment despite his strong interest in the Spartans.

With 30 offers to his name, Etta also committed to the Wolverines over the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Miami, TCU, Tennessee, USC, and Wisconsin, among others.

For Etta, the chance to follow in the footsteps of former Michigan pass-rushers like Aiden Hutchinson and David Ojabo was a plus. Hutchinson was drafted No. 2 overall in this past NFL draft by the Detroit Lions. Ojabo was drafted in the second round by the Baltimore Ravens.

“That’s definitely something I want to be part of and seeing Ojabo and Hutchinson and [Rashan] Gary, I feel like I can follow in their footsteps,” he told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. “I just have to want it and work hard.”

With Etta in the fold, the Wolverines now have 11 commitments as part of the 2023 class, with Etta checking in as the highest-rated.
