A Hollywood producer has been charged with the murders of a model and her architect friend who were found dumped unconscious at separate hospitals following a Los Angeles warehouse party last year.
David Pearce, 40, was initially arrested in December on suspicion of manslaughter, and now the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has formally charged the producer with murdering Christy Gilesa model, and her architect friend Hilda Cabrales-Arzola, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Giles, 24, was found the sidewalk at Southern California Hospital in Culver City on November 13, 2021. She died a short time later from what was determined to be an overdose of fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs.
A few hours later, her friend Cabrales-Arzola, 26, was left at Kaiser West Los Angeles. She remained in a coma until she died on November 24 from organ failure and intoxication from cocaine, MDMA and possibly other drugs.
Their deaths were ruled as drug-induced homicides.
Surveillance video showed their bodies being dumped by three masked men driving a Toyota Prius with no license plates.
It was not made clear what prompted prosecutors to bring murder charges against Pearce nearly eight months after their deaths.
Following the news that Pearce had been charged, a relative who runs Giles’ Instagram account posted a screenshot of the Times’ article with the caption: ‘Finally! Justice is coming.’

Brandt Osborn, 42, an actor, has been charged with acting as an accessory to the pair’s murders. A third man Michael Ansbach, 47, was also arrested along with Pearce and Osborn, but has not been charged.
The Times reported that investigators got a warrant in January to search dozens of electronics seized from the three men.
Pearce was pictured partying with Cabralez-Arzola hours before her death. The young architect was also snapped having a good time with Giles in haunting photos depicting the final hours before their tragic killings.
The Times reported that he and the women had met up at the warehouse party in LA that night, where Cabrales texted Giles around 4 a.m. asking whether she wanted cocaine, according to a search warrant affidavit by Det. Jonathan Vander Lee.
‘I’m in the kitchen,’ Cabrales responded to Giles. ‘Let’s do a line.’
Surveillance cameras at the warehouse captured Cabrales and Giles leaving the party with the three men: Pearce, Ansbach and Osborn in Osborn’s Hyundai. They were at Pearce’s apartment around 5 a.m.
About twenty minutes later, Giles texted her friend: ‘Let’s go,’ along with a wide-eyed emoji.
‘Yes,’ Cabrales responded. ‘I’ll call an Uber. 10 min away.’
According to video footage, a car believed to be the Uber, arrived at the apartment and then was seen leaving after waiting for five minutes.
‘One glaring fact is that both Giles and Cabrales wanted to leave Pearce’s residence, as is evident by their texts and ordering an Uber,’ Vander Lee wrote. ‘The next time they are seen, they’re dead.’
Cameras later captured Pearce carrying Giles’ body to his Prius and driving to a hospital, where she was left on the sidewalk, Vander Lee wrote. The same thing was done with Cabrales.
Pearce, who has remained in jail since December on unrelated rape charges, was arrested by Los Angeles Police in December, accused of sexually assaulting four women in 2010, 2019, February 2020 and October 2020 in crimes not connected to the deaths of Giles and Cabralez-Arzola.

Vander Lee recalled in his affidavit that detectives spoke to a ‘visibly nervous’ Osborn, who said he didn’t see Giles or Cabrales take any drugs.
‘I didn’t give them anything, OK, I don’t live like that,’ Osborn said. He said ‘they were making noises, but I figured give them a couple hours and they’ll come out of it, but it seemed like they were getting progressively worse.’
Osborn said he panicked because he’d never been in this situation before.
‘We didn’t know them,’ he added, saying he didn’t bring them to the same hospital because ‘we didn’t know how that would look.’

Cabrales was an architect who had just moved to Los Angeles from Mexico in July to take a job as project manager for a design company. She graduated cum laude from Monterrey University two years ago.
She and Giles went out to the SoHo House in downtown LA and then a nearby warehouse party on the night they died.
The two women left the party in downtown LA with men and ended up at an apartment building in West LA, said a third friend who left early.
Giles’ mother, Dusty, of Dora, Alabama, was the first family member to receive news of her death and had spoken to her just hours earlier.

Dusty previously told DailyMail.com that that texts between the girls also suggested they took cocaine at the warehouse party in East LA.
The grieving mom said she didn’t agree with her daughter’s recreational drug use, but that Christy was always open and honest about it – and that her daughter was also adamant she would never take heroin, after seeing a close cousin become addicted and a close friend’s ex die of an overdose.
Arzola – who had only recently moved to LA from Mexico – also despised heroin, according to family and friends.
Dusty said she was unsurprised by the references to drug use.
‘My daughter by no means was an angel. She lived her life very unapologetically, and was brutally honest and truthful with her family, regardless if we agreed with it or not, because she knew that we loved her unconditionally,’ she said.
