Folks, we regret to inform you that Kim Kardashian has put her foot in her mouth yet again.
Remember a few weeks ago when Kim criticized poor people for being unwilling to work hard?
Well, apparently she’s a firm believer that there’s no such thing as bad publicity, because in a new interview with Allure, Kimberly made a comment that’s arguably even more tone deaf.
Yes, somehow dating a mustachioed guy named Pete who hails from Staten Island has made her more of an elitist!
The trouble began when the interviewer asked if Kim feels “responsible, even guilty, for setting an unrealistic, unattainable beauty standard.”
“If I’m doing it, it’s attainable,” Kim rather smugly replied.
Now, there’s a lot of debate over how much work Kim has had done, but most people agree that she has indeed had some work done.
Kim went on to deny that, however, insisting that she’s had a handful of Botox treatments but nothing more.
She says that she’s never had lip or cheek fillers, or even used false eyelashes.
“I’ve never had eyelash extensions. I’ve never done anything. I have a drop of mascara on today,” Kim told Allure.
“I’ve never filled my cheeks. I’ve never filled my lips,” she added.
Kim went on to say that she feels anyone can look as good as she does, all they have to do is want it as badly.
“I really, genuinely care about looking good,” Kim said.
“I probably care more than 90% of the people on this planet. It’s not easy when you’re a mom and you’re exhausted at the end of the day or you’re in school, and I’m all of the above,” she added.
“I do my beauty treatments usually late at night. After everyone’s in bed, I’m doing laser treatments.”
In something of an ironic twist, Kim concluded by advising women to just be themselves.
“There are so many different beauty standards — whether it’s Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe. When I was a teenager, [the look] was just blonde waifs,” she added.
“My mentality was never like, you see them on TV or in magazines and pick who you want to be. It was always: Be yourself, find beauty in everything.”
We probably don’t need to tell you that Kim’s remarks didn’t go over very well, with many commenters accusing the 42-year-old have forgetting the tremendous privileges that have been afforded to her by her wealth.
And of course, many, many people believe that Kim is flat-out lying about never receiving any fillers or plastic surgery.
“[Kim] claims she doesn’t have any filler, lip injections, plastic surgery- just Botox why lie so blatantly? Because she thinks we’re deaf dumb and blind,” one person tweeted.
“Yeah no it’s not @KimKardashian you have wealth privilege. Many people, including myself, don’t. Tone deaf and out of touch,” another added.
One Reddit user seemed to sum up the feelings of many of Kim’s critics with the following comment:
“First thing said upon reading this, ‘Baybeeeee, we can see you with our eyes.’ Second thing I said (as someone who works in med aesthetics), ‘Don’t offer unsolicited advice to people about what YOU think a person needs.’ That is so sh-tty. Shut the f-ck up, Kimberly.
Obviously that’s rather harsh — but if Kim is gonna continue lecturing “regular” folk, then she should probably anticipate this sort of blowback.
