Recently, things have been pretty tense between Matt Roloff and his son, Zach.

Zach felt misled and betrayed when his father sold a hefty portion of Roloff Farms.

Years ago, Jeremy and Audrey Roloff had a similar experience, and realized that the farm would never be theirs.

So they bought their own. Will Zach and Tori follow their example one day?

Audrey and Jeremy have gone ahead and done it! They are looking out here over their new land.

It has only been a matter of weeks since Audrey Roloff made her announcement on Instagram.

“After a two-year search spanning all over the state of Oregon, IT. IS. TIME,” she began dramatically.

“We bought a farm!” Audrey shared. “And look what’s in our backyard Yup, that’s our trestle.”

“If you read our book (or even just looked at the cover lol) you know the significance,” Audrey wrote.

Shen then acknowledge the significance “that this train trestle has played in our love story and lives.”

Audrey noted: “It’s where Jer asked me to be his girlfriend, it’s where he asked me to marry him.”

She continued: “it’s where we took the photo for the cover of our New York Times best-selling book.”

“And,” Audrey noted, “it’s within walking distance of my parent’s property.”

“We’ve got a lot of work to do to bring our vision to life,,” she acknowledged.

“But Jer and I are excited to finally have some space to get our feet dirty (literally),” Audrey proclaimed in her post.

“And,” she then wrote, “bring our dreams of using land into reality.”

“I’ll share more of the story behind how this came to be soon,” Audrey promised.

“But for now, I just want to say thank you for being someone who has been following us on this journey,” she wrote.

Audrey shared that they had been on this journey for the last two years.”

“And,” she continued, she thanked fans who “offered encouragement and prayers as we have patiently pursued some land for our family.”

“The whole journey to now seems like one giant God-wink,” Audrey concluded.

Fans are of course happy for Audrey and for Jeremy (well, up to a certain point).

But what does their happiness mean for the rest of the family?

Not everyone would choose a farm life on purpose.

However, decades ago, that is precisely what Matt and Amy did, raising their children in relative rural isolation.

Some of their children understandably resented aspects of their lives. It makes sense.

What a lovely family photo… in the snow! We see you there, Audrey Roloff, Jeremy Roloff and your kids.

However, Jeremy clearly seeks to recreate at least some parts of his childhood for Ember and for Bode.

Fueled by their shared conservative Christian views and a love for the lifestyle, he and Audrey are embracing farm life.

Could this be a pathway for Zach and Tori to find their family’s own way forward?

Tori and Zach did purchase a new home and move away from Roloff Farms.

Their house in Washington state sits on “only” two acres, so while that is a massive yard, it is not exactly farm material.

Only they can decide whether a house so close to the city will bring them happiness … or if they need to follow Jer and Auj’s example.
