Bill Barr called Trump’s election fraud claims ‘bulls***’ and rigged voting machine theories ‘complete nonsense’ and ‘crazy stuff’ in bombshell testimony to January 6 committee

The House January 6th committee at its hearing Thursday played videotaped testimony of former Attorney General Bill trashing former President Trump’s repeated claims of election fraud – which the former top law enforcement officer termed ‘bulls****.’
Barr was among the first witnesses referenced in Thursday’s prime time hearings. His comments, delivered leaning back in a chair in a bland committee room in his usual academic tone, eviscerated Trump’s claims of election fraud.
It was a position he said he made to the president’s face, in ‘three discussions that I can recall: Nov. 23, Dec. 1, and Dec. 14.
‘In that context I made it clear I did not agree with the idea of saying the election was stolen and putting out this stuff, which I told the president was bulls****,’ Barr told the committee.
‘I didn’t want to be a part of it, and that’s one of the reasons that went into me deciding to leave when I did.’

Barr suddenly resigned his post Dec. 15th – amid what was later revealed to be turmoil within the Justice Department and among the White House counsel, including an effort to try to install a new Trump loyalist as acting attorney general
‘I observed, I think it was on December 1, you can’t live in a world where the incumbent administration stays in power based on its view, unsupported by specific evidence, that there was fraud in the election,’ said Barr.
Barr has also blasted Trump’s election fraud claims in his memoir and in a series of interviews promoting the book since leaving office.
Barr on December 14, 2020, the day before he resigned, issued a public comment rebuking Trump’s claims of fraud.
He said he saw no fraud ‘on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election,’ while Trump and his lawyers were still making the claim.
The committee included Barr’s testimony in a video among clips of rioters breaching the Capitol

He also made a series of decisions while in office that bolstered Trump, infuriating Democrats with his decision to release a summary of the Mueller report before its release.
He also before the election parroted some of Trump’s comments undermining the security of mail ballots.
‘There’s no more secret vote with mail-in vote. A secret vote prevents selling and buying votes. So now, we’re back in the business of selling and buying votes,’ Barr told the Chicago Tribune in September 2020.
