Ivana Trump, the first wife of former president Donald Trump and mother of Ivanka, Eric and Don Jr., died on Thursday.

She was 73 years old.

According to The New York Post, paramedics were called to Ivana’s home on New York’s Upper East Side early on Thursday afternoon.

While no cause of death has been revealed, the medics were reportedly responding to a cardiac arrest call.

News of Ivana’s passing was confirmed by a social media post from her youngest son, Eric Trump.

“Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend,” Eric wrote.

“She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren.”

Former president Trump also issued a statement in response to his ex-wife’s unexpected death.

“I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

“She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life.”

Trump concluded:

“Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”

Born Ivana Marie Zelníčková, the first Mrs. Trump married the future president (who was then a New York City real estate developer) in 1977.

The Trumps became staples in the New York tabloids, particularly amid his affair with model Marla Maples, which led to Donald and Ivana’s divorce in 1992.

The split made international headlines, and was described by many outlets as one of the most costly divorces in history.

During a deposition, Ivana accused Donald of rape and other forms of physical abuse, but she retracted those claims when he launched his campaign for the presidency in 2015.

“Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of,” Ivana said at the time.

“I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign.”

Ivana concluded her statement with an unexpected endorsement of her ex’s political prowess:

“Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president.”

On Twitter, tributes to Ivana from friends, family, and fans have made her the number one trending topic worldwide.

Many have set aside their differing political views to pay tribute to an entrepreneur and fashion icon who rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most iconic socialites in the modern history of New York City.

In addition to her work as a businesswoman, Ivana made a name in herself in the world of pop culture, thanks to her willingness to laugh at herself and her messy divorce.

Across the social media landscape, many users are quoting Ivana’s most memorable line of dialogue from her cameo in the 1996 comedy The First Wives Club:

“Ladies, be strong and independent, and remember, don’t get mad, get everything,” the first wife of the future president memorably remarked.

Our thoughts go out to Ivana’s loved ones during this tremendously difficult time.
