Herschel Walker, the Republican nominee for Senate from Georgia who has previously criticized absentee fathers, mainly in Black communities, is being accused of hypocrisy after it was revealed that he has a second son he’s estranged from.

A report published by The Daily Beast on Tuesday revealed that Walker has a 10-year-old son, whose name has been withheld out of privacy concerns.

The new information was revealed as Walker prepares to face Senator Raphael Warnock, a Democrat, in November. During Walker’s campaign speeches and interviews, Walker has often proudly spoken about his oldest son, 22-year-old Christian, who he co-parented with his ex-wife and current wife. But there was never any mention of another child.

Instead, Walker has been known to take a stand against fatherless households, particularly in black communities – stating in a 2020 interview that ‘if you have a child with a woman — even if you have to leave that woman — you don’t leave that child.’

Now, the former NFL player turned politician is being accused of hypocrisy for lecturing other fathers while he’s estranged from his own child.

The Daily Beast reported that Walker was sued by the child’s mother in 2013 to obtain child support and declaration of paternity that resulted in Walker being forced to pay child support. At that point, the child was two years old and took on Walker’s last name.

The child has grown up more than 1,500 miles from Walker’s Texas home. The Daily Beast reported.

Walker’s campaign manager, Scott Paradise, told DailyMail.com that Walker supports the child and is proud of his children.

‘Herschel had a child years ago when he wasn’t married. He’s supported the child and continues to do so. He’s proud of his children. To suggest that Herschel is ‘hiding’ the child because he hasn’t used him in his political campaign is offensive and absurd.’

Paradise also pointed that Walker’s opponent Warnock is currently engaged in a mudslinging campaign that is a complete double standard.

Warnock is dealing with a custody dispute of his own with his ex-wife seeking to change his child support payment due to his salary increase as a U.S. Senator, The Daily Beast reported.

‘Raphael Warnock is currently engaged in both a nasty mudslinging campaign and a nasty custody dispute with his ex-wife,’ Paradise told DailyMail.com. ‘He’s dodged voters by sealing the case and even has tried to dodge authorities. This is a complete double standard.’

Over the years, Walker has criticized fatherless households and in a 2020 interview with the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, he called the absence of fathers 'a major, major problem'

Walker, who said in a December 2019 interview that his greatest accomplishment was being a good father, has continued to praise his son Christian, but there has been no mention of another child.

‘I have a 17-year-old, Christian. I love that dude. I love him to death,’ Walker said at an informal speech in 2017. ‘He’s 17, he’s trying to pull away. I tell him, ‘Hey, dude, until you’re big enough to throw me off, boy I’m going to kiss you and hug you.’

He added, ‘if you got a child, hug your child every day.’

A year later, at a Presidential Fitness panel appearance, Walker said that while parental involvement is ‘very, very important,’ so was ‘adults getting involved with kids, because some kid do not have a parent, a mother or a father.’

‘So I don’t think I want to leave that kid behind. I want to be involved with him as well,’ he said.

Over the years, Walker has criticized fatherless households and in a 2020 interview with the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, he called the absence of fathers ‘a major, major problem.’

‘I want to apologize to the African-American community, because the fatherless home is a major, major problem,’ Walker said, adding that he had been ‘like a father to some of those kids that had never had fathers.’

He appeared on the show with conservative media personalities Diamond and Silk several times where his message was clear: ‘If you have ‘a child with a woman, even if you have to leave that woman… you don’t leave the child.’

And in a 2021 interview, he lamented that ‘the father leaves in the Black family. He leaves the boys alone so they’ll be raised by their mom.’

But again pushed home the point that, ‘If you have a child with a woman, even if you have to leave that woman — you don’t leave that child.’

Walker has also called on a team approach to parenting, and for the community to help those without father.

‘We’ve got a lot of NFL players. We have a lot of NBA players. And they want to help. They’ve given millions of dollars to Black Lives Matter. Let’s not do that,’ he said to Diamond and Silk.

‘I say what we need to do is let’s go in all the neighborhood [sic] and let’s become fathers of those fatherless child [sic]. Meaning let’s try to direct them in the right way,’ he said.

But at the same time, he has taken a anti-abortion stance, calling for a total ban with ‘no exceptions.
