Britney Spears’ mom Lynne insists ‘I just want her to be happy’ despite NOT being invited to wedding

The estranged mother of Britney Spears says she wants her daughter to be happy despite not being invited to the wedding after the pop star had accused her of being the ‘mastermind’ behind the conservatorship.

Lynne Spears was seen arriving at LAX Airport in Los Angeles on Thursday night where she was asked about her famous 40-year-old daughter.

The 67-year-old mother of three did not talk much about Britney but insisted that she wants what’s best for her eldest daughter.

While leaving the international travel hub, she talked briefly about Britney as she told a photographer: ‘I just want her to be happy.’ 

Earlier this month Lynne publicly congratulated her famous daughter on her wedding to Sam Asghari, despite not being invited to the ceremony.

‘You look radiant and so happy!’ she commented on the pop star’s Instagram post, which featured four photos from the stunning ceremony at Britney’s home in Thousand Oaks, California on June 9. 

‘Your wedding is the “Dream” wedding! And having it at your home makes it so sentimental and special! I am soooo happy for you! I love you!’ she stated.

Lynne’s comment comes after the mother/daughter relationship was strained, following the singer’s nearly-14-year-long conservatorship, which was finally terminated in November 2021. 

Around that time Britney accused her of being the one to have conceived of the conservatorship idea, and not her father Jamie Spears.

In an angry Instagram post, she fumed: ‘You know exactly what you did.’

Britney swiftly deleted the text, in which she launched an astonishing attack on her mother.

Lynne has tried to take Britney’s side in her row with her father Jamie, Lynne’s ex-husband, over the conservatorship.

But the singer has repeatedly rejected her overtures, and last Tuesday said her mother was the true villain in the sorry saga.

In November 2021, Britney accused her of being the one to have conceived of the conservatorship idea, and not her father Jamie Spears. In an angry Instagram post, she fumed: ‘You know exactly what you did’ 

‘My dad is not smart enough to ever think of a conservatorship,’ Britney said.

The singer posted a message on Instagram reading: ‘The most dangerous animal in the world is a silent smiling woman’.

She captioned the image: ‘My dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago … but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea.

‘I will never get those years back.

‘She secretly ruined my life … and yes I will call her and Lou Taylor out on it … so take your whole ‘I have NO IDEA what’s going on’ attitude and go f*** yourself!!!!’

Taylor is Spears’s former business manager.

She continued: ‘You know exactly what you did … my dad is not smart enough to ever think of a conservatorship.’

Spears then deleted the post, and replaced it with one which appeared to be celebrating the news that her father has formally requested an end to her conservatorship, telling the judge in Los Angeles that he is abandoning his role immediately and does not want further payment.

‘It was a family business before … it’s no longer that anymore !!!!’ said Britney, in the updated post – which had edited out the attack on her mother.

‘I was BORN today cause I get to SMILE … so thank you for exiting out of my life and finally allowing me to live mine !!!!

‘Psssss do I know how mean I sound ??? Yes … I 100 billion percent I do.’ 

In July 2021, Lynne issued a sworn statement in support of her daughter’s attempts to remove her father as conservator.

‘It is clear to me that James P. Spears is incapable of putting my daughter’s interests ahead of his own on both a professional and a personal level,’ she said.

Yet Jamie hit back, accusing Lynne of being an absent mother and claiming she was paid $150,000 a year by Britney for her mansion in Louisiana.

‘Despite their estranged relationship, the Conservatorship Estate, during the entire duration of the Conservatorship, has paid and continues to pay for the mansion in Louisiana where Lynne lives, including all of her utility bills, weekly maid service, and all maintenance (totaling upwards of $150,000 per year and to date, nearly $2,000,000 in total).’

 Britney left her mother as well as her father Jamie Spears, 69, off the guest list, which included A-list stars like Madonna, Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and Drew Barrymore.

The Womanizer younger singer’s sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, 31, was also not invited to the lavish ceremony, following their fallout over Jamie’s involvement in Britney’s conservatorship.

Page Six reported that her brother Bryan reportedly managed to get an invite, but chose not to attend. 

However Britney later claimed that she ‘never invited’ her older brother Bryan Spears, 45, to her recent wedding to Sam Asghari, despite the 45-year-old’s girlfriend previously citing a scheduling conflict as the reason for his absence.

The pop star set the record straight in a lengthy text post shared to her Instagram on June 14, where she slammed Bryan and the rest of the Spears family for their alleged treatment of her during her now-terminated conservatorship.

 Britney also touched on the fact she ‘didn’t drink a sip of alcohol’ on her special day because she’d been ‘drug tested at least 3 times a week’ for the past 13 years and was never allowed to drink.

She’d claimed that Bryan’s go-to drink was ‘a Jack and coke’ and that he’d have it ‘every night’ in Las Vegas while she headlined a four-year residency at Planet Hollywood. Britney said that he ‘would never even let me have a sip’ of the drink and accused him of being on the same power trip as her father Jamie Spears.

She continued: ‘If we were going to drink together at the wedding and play the classy roles for the children like you and mom [Lynne Spears] do as you people literally hid coffee and alcohol when I would come home … you hurt me and you know it !!!

Britney joked that she might ‘force myself to drink Jack tonight’ as a ‘F*** you’ to her older brother.

She appeared to suggest that her aversion to alcohol streams from the years of alleged forced drug testing she endured while under the control of her conservators.

‘I can’t drink a lot … true story – the 13 years of being in the conservatorship I was drug tested at least 3 times a week … I don’t even really like alcohol,’ she wrote. 

Although she was forced into sobriety, Britney claimed that those around her, specifically her brother Bryan and their father Jamie, continued to indulge in alcohol.

‘Meanwhile I heard that my dad would go to bars every night … and my brother had his shrimp salad and a Jack and coke every night in Vegas after my show and even sometimes before !!!’ she wrote.

Not one sip! Britney also touched on the fact she ‘didn’t drink of sip of alcohol’ on her special day because she’d been ‘drug tested at least 3 times a week’ for the past 13 years and was never allowed to drink 

Although she ‘could drink a lot when I was younger,’ Britney confessed that she couldn’t even finish her vodka and Sprite because it bothered her stomach. 

‘In Vegas, I was ready to have my first vodka and Sprite !!! No lie, I literally drank half the cup and suddenly my stomach went into a knot so my friend finished the drink … at the restaurant, I was like “OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH” my stomach fell like a freaking brick !!!’ she recalled.

‘To make a long story short … I basically couldn’t leave my room for 2 days because it upset my stomach … ok, so I’m older and more sensitive now and yes. I’m a little bitter because I used to be able to have fun when I would drink but now I either get too sick of I go straight to sleep !!!’

She sarcastically called the interview ‘SPECIAL,’ adding that she knows that ‘you and the family had no bad intentions at all whatsoever taking all those years away when I wanted to honestly just be a respected individual with a glass of red wine.’

She cited one moment in the podcast interview where the host Drew Plotkin asked Bryan why the Spears family wouldn’t ‘just let [Britney] be?’ 

Bryan appeared to suggest that Britney did not have the life skills to survive on her own and that life post-conservatorship would be a huge adjustment for her.

Britney wrote: ‘Your response [to the podcast question] was … “she can’t even make a dinner reservation…” None of you ever wanted it to end because you all loved telling me what to do and treating me like absolutely nothing !!!

‘What you said right there to that man in that interview said everything, Bryan !!!’

Britney’s strong-worded post to Bryan came just days after his girlfriend Amber Lynn Conklin took to Instagram to reveal that he was attending his daughter Lexie’s graduation from elementary school on the same day as Britney’s wedding.

Conklin posted a shot of herself and Bryan posing with Lexie (who Bryan shares with ex-wife Graciella Sanchez) to mark the educational milestone.

‘Watched our little munchkin & Vice President of 5th grade become a middle schooler yesterday! We love you Lexie baby and SO proud of you,’ Conklin captioned the shot.

Conklin cited the graduation ceremony when she was asked in the comment section of a previous post why she and Bryan did not make it out to Britney’s nuptials to the 28-year-old actor-fitness professional.

‘Ironically Lexie had her 5th grade graduation & we couldn’t help the timings,’ Conklin said, adding that ‘Bryan felt terrible having to choose but he had to be there for his daughter.’

Conklin added that Bryan ‘sent his love to’ Britney, 40, ‘x1000000’ and that they were ‘so sad to miss such an important moment but so so happy for Britney and Sam’s Marriage!’

An insider explained the alleged scheduling conflict Bryan faced to Page Six on Monday, noting that ‘both ceremonies were around the same time.

Scheduling conflict? Spears’ sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline, 44, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15, did not attend the event as they felt ‘the focus of this day should be on Britney and Sam,’ Federline’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan told Page Six, adding that ‘they are very happy for her moving forward.’

 The Tehran, Iran-born Asghari initially met Spears in October of 2016 when they worked together on her video Slumber Party, and they began dating soon thereafter.
