Amy Schumer responds with humor as she’s linked to nationwide tampon shortage: ‘I don’t even have a uterus’

Amy Schumer on Thursday responded with humor to a report linking her to a nationwide shortage of tampons.

On Wednesday, the New York Post published a report titled, ‘Why Amy Schumer is getting blamed for the national tampon shortage,’ noting that a spokesperson for Procter & Gamble told Time that sales for the product spiked 7.7 percent after Schumer began appearing in Tampax commercials in July of 2020.

The comic, 41, took a screenshot of the article with the caption, ‘Whoa I don’t even have a uterus,’ in reference to her revelation last fall that she’d had her uterus and appendix removed to combat endometriosis.

The Trainwreck actress received a number of responses from famous followers in reaction to the joke, as broadcaster Katie Couric wrote, ‘What???????’

Schumer, who was a co-host at the Oscars in March, opened up about her health situation in an Instagram clip last September that was filmed by her spouse, Chris Fischer, 42, as she was in a hospital recovering from the procedure.

‘So, it’s the morning after my surgery for endometriosis and my uterus is out,’ the Emmy-winning star, who shares son Gene, three, with Fischer, said in the clip. ‘The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis that he removed. He removed my appendix because the endometriosis had attacked it.’

She continued: ‘There was a lot, a lot of blood in my uterus and I’m, you know, sore and I have some, like, gas pains.’

The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo author advised her followers in the caption, ‘If you have really painful periods, you may have #endometriosis.’

Schumer last Halloween took to social media with a shot in which she was donning a blue bodysuit that read Tampax as she stepped out in New York City.

Schumer said in the post, ‘I don’t have a uterus, but nothing can stop me from wearing Tampax, okay?’

Tampax’s official Instagram page reposted the clip with the caption: ‘When @amyschumer told us she was going to be a bloodsucker for #Halloween, this is not what we were expecting…’
