Alec Baldwin has announced he’s planning to conduct a live interview with embattled director Woody Allen on Tuesday.

The 30 Rock star, who has his own share of controversies, has worked with the 86-year-old on multiple movies in the past.

He announced the interview in a defensive post where he said he ‘couldn’t care less about anyone else’s speculation’ about him interviewing Allen who has been accused of sexual abuse by his own daughter.

‘Let me preface this by stating that I have ZERO INTEREST in anyone’s judgments and sanctimonious posts here. I am OBVIOUSLY someone who has my own set of beliefs and COULD NOT CARE LESS about anyone else’s speculation,’ Baldwin said in an Instagram post accompanying a video.

The video clip showed Baldwin holding up a copy of Allen’s recent book: ‘Zero Gravity.” He shows the front cover of book and Allen’s picture on the back.

He then whispers into the camera: ‘Woody Allen. Who I love. I love you, Woody.’

Allen’s book, his first since his memoir ‘Apropos of Nothing’ in 2020, is a collection of humorous essays.

It’s likely that the pair will discuss the movies they have made together during the Tuesday interview on Instagram Live. Allen and Baldwin have worked together on three occasions, in ‘Alice,’ ‘To Rome With Love’ and ‘Blue Jasmine.’

Baldwin has not shied away from publicly defending the filmmaker from the sexual abuse allegations in recent years.

In the Instagram post announcing the interview he added: ‘If you believe that a trial should be conducted by way of an HBO documentary, that’s your issue.’

Baldwin was referencing the 2021 HBO documentary, ‘Allen v Farrow.’

The four part series detailed Allen’s break up from his partner of more than 10 years, Mia Farrow.

The couple’s relationship ended when Farrow discovered naked photos that Allen had taken of her daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, then 22.

It was later revealed that Allen had been having an affair with Soon-Yi.

During the course of that split, Farrow accused Allen of sexually molesting the couple’s daughter, Dylan, in 1992 when she was seven years old.

Allen said of Baldwin during a press event for ‘To Rome With Love:’ ‘He is a great actor so when I can get him and he is available, I would always use him.’

Allen went on: ‘He is wonderful to work with and a great actor — if you want something serious, if you want something comic, he’s the guy. … It’s like having a secret weapon on the screen.’

He continued: 'I am OBVIOUSLY someone who has my own set of beliefs and COULD NOT CARE LESS about anyone else¿s speculation'

Following the airing of ‘Allen v Farrow,’ Baldwin has been one of the ‘Annie Hall’ director’s biggest defenders.

In February 2021, Baldwin tweeted: ‘Who needs courtrooms or rule of law when we have trial media?’

He also said that Allen was never charged with a crime because authorities ‘couldn’t prove their case because it didn’t happen.’

Baldwin took aim at Frank Maco, the Connecticut state prosecutor who said that he could have brought charges but neglected to due to a fear of traumatizing Dylan Farrow further.

Baldwin said of Maco: ‘You don’t condemn someone to a life of innuendo and ruin his life and those of his family. Maco is among the villains here. He should have brought the charges, or shut up.’

Several actors, including Elliot Page and Thimothee Chalamet, have expressed their regret about working with Allen

Speaking about the allegations of ‘trial by media,’ one of the creators of ‘Allen v Farrow’  Amy Ziering told the Daily Beast in 2021: ‘I think the trial by media happened over the past three decades, Alec. Let’s see who was tried and convicted.

Ziering added: ‘He should a) watch the series; and b) look at the role the media played in spreading spin instead of truths, in not doing any fact-checking, in excoriating someone and convicting her [Mia Farrow] without any due diligence over three decades, and then talk to us about trial by media.’

Back in 2018, Baldwin was similarly passionate in his support of Allen.

When Mira Sorvino, Elliot Page, Timothee Chalamet and Rebecca Hall all publicly expressed their regrets about working with the director, Baldwin was outraged.

He tweeted: ‘Woody Allen was investigated forensically by two states (NY and CT) and no charges were filed. The renunciation of him and his work, no doubt, has some purpose. But it’s unfair and sad to me. I worked w WA 3 times and it was one of the privileges of my career.”

In a separate tweet, Baldwin said that it was still possible to support survivors of pedophilia but also believe that Allen was innocent.

He added: ‘The intention is not to dismiss or ignore such complaints. But accusing ppl of such crimes should be treated carefully. On behalf of the victims, as well.’

At that time, Baldwin told those who disagree with his defense of Allen to unfollow him on Twitter.

Baldwin was asked in a 2018 interview with the Hollywood Reporter about his unwavering support for Allen.

He said : ‘It’s a normal inclination to want to rally by your friends up until the point that they are convicted of something. If they’re convicted of a crime, well then you’re sad, and that’s tragic, but they’ve got to go through that process.’

Tuesday’s interview is not the first time that Baldwin has interviewed Allen. The director made an appearance on Baldwin’s podcast ‘Here’s the Thing’ in June 2020.

In adulthood, Dylan Farrow has maintained that she was sexually abused by Allen, speaking about them publicly in 2013.  The filmmaker has never been convicted of a crime in relation to the allegation.

Although a judge in a 1993 custody hearing between him and Farrow called Allen’s behavior towards his daughter as ‘grossly inappropriate.’

Allen married Soon-Yi Previn in 1997. The couple has two children together.

As a result of Dylan Farrow’s allegations and the MeToo movement, Allen’s 2019 movie ‘A Rainy Day in New York’ was shelved by Amazon Studios and his publisher dropped out of a deal to put out his autobiography.

For Baldwin meanwhile, the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie ‘Rust’ in October 2021 remains under investigation by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.

The movie’s director Joel Souza was also injured in the shooting.

Baldwin and other producers and staff on the movie are also subject to a lawsuit from the Hutchins’ family.

In December 2021, Baldwin was pictured by the New York Post’s Jon Levine outside of Allen’s Upper East Side townhouse.
