Female Air Force ROTC cadet, 19, from Alaska is killed ‘when her Humvee overturned’ during a training exercise at Idaho military base

- Wilson, from Eagle River, Alaska, was one of 19 cadets participating in the venture
- The Air Force have not detailed how the accident happened, but initial reports suggested the Humvee she was traveling in flipped over
- Two other cadets in her vehicle were injured and taken to hospital in Boise, where they were released the same day
An Air Force ROTC cadet from Alaska died in an accident involving a Humvee during a training exercise in Idaho, Mountain Home Air Force Base said on Sunday.
Mackenzie Wilson, 19, a cadet at Oregon State University, died of injuries sustained in an accident on Friday at the base.
She was from Eagle River, Alaska.
‘Today we lost a member of our Air Force family. We express our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of all the individuals,’ said Col. Ernesto DiVittorio, 366th Fighter Wing commander.
‘Our thoughts and prayers are with them.’

Nineteen Air Force ROTC cadets were participating in a training opportunity at the air base southeast of Boise when the accident happened.
The group was training at Saylor Creek Range, a part of the Mountain Home Range Complex, at 12:30pm on Friday.
Unconfirmed reports suggested that her Humvee flipped over. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two cadets with her in the vehicle were treated for injuries at the hospital in Boise and later released.
The fatal accident is being investigated by the Idaho State Police and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
The other cadets were offered support services and given the option to return home.
