The contract drama between the San Francisco 49ers and All-Pro wideout Deebo Samuel appears to be over.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Niners and Samuel have agreed to a three-year extension worth $71.55M, with $58.1M guaranteed.

Samuel, 26, was due to enter the 2022 season on the final year of his contract before agreeing to an extension.

On Tuesday, Samuel reported for the start of 49ers’ training camp but wasn’t practicing while negotiations between the two sides continued.

At the time, 49ers’ general manager John Lynch told reporters the team and Samuel “had really productive and substantive talks” regarding an extension.

Samuel’s extension comes just days after another high-profile wide receiver signed a new deal. On Thursday, the Seattle Seahawks and D.K. Metcalf agreed to a three-year, $72M extension, with $58.2M guaranteed.

Named an All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2021, Samuel posted career highs in receptions (77), receiving yards (1,405), and receiving touchdowns (six). Samuel also posted career marks in rushing, compiling 365 yards and eight touchdowns off 59 carries.

Since being selected in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft by San Francisco, Samuel has hauled in 167 catches for 2,598 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 550 rushing yards and eight scores on the ground.
